Look, the Eyes

Bernhard Fuchs, artist and former student of the Becher class in Düsseldorf, is showing a selection of his “Portrait Photographs” (1994-2004) in the current exhibition “Schau, die Blicke”. He focuses on individual people he met by chance while riding his bicycle through his home region, the Mühlviertel in Upper Austria. In these portraits, Fuchs captures the intimacy and uniqueness of the personalities living there.

The artist has been living and working in Düsseldorf since his art studies and is coming to MGKSiegen for an artist talk with director Thomas Thiel to present his work in more detail. He will take us on a journey through the genesis of the portrait series and tell us more about the view through the camera and how he sees the relationship between photographer and portrait subject.
