During the tour, we will discuss the themes of individual rooms on the basis of individual works. Our aim is to better understand the art, themes and strategies of the artist Sung Tieu.
Sung Tieu makes artworks that relate to the space. This means that she thinks about the place where the art will be shown when she creates the works.
For example:
Pipes that appear to go through walls.
Stools that are attached to the wall.
Bread spread across the floor.
Rubber mats covering the floor.
Tieu often uses objects she finds to create her artworks. She also makes soundtracks and videos. The soundtracks often echo through the room and influence our perception of other works.
Sung Tieu often deals with the themes of:
Power, visibility, data, knowledge, colonial history, control
The exhibition is called "Without Full Disclosure / Ohne Offenlegung". So something remains hidden? It invites viewers to critically question the hidden layers of the information landscape that surrounds us.
