Sung Tieu, Without Full Disclosure

Dialogue on Sung Tieu with professor Christian Berger and director Thomas Thiel

Christian Berger and Thomas Thiel lead a dialog tour through the exhibition “Sung Tieu, Without Disclosure”. An exchange about curatorial decisions and art historical references will open up a new perspective on the exhibition. In the summer semester 2023, Christian Berger offered a seminar on “Minimalisms in Art and Music” with musicologist Prof. Martin Herchenröder - in which Sung Tieu's works already played an important role.

Bio: Christian Berger has been Professor of Modern and Contemporary Art History at the University of Siegen since October 2023. He received his doctorate from Freie Universität Berlin in 2013 with the thesis Wiederholung und Experiment bei Edgar Degas and habilitated at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz in 2022 with the thesis Worldly Matter: Materialität und Wirklichkeitsbezug im Konzeptualismus der 1960er und 1970er Jahre. He was a research assistant at the universities in Mainz and Marburg and was able to conduct research at institutions in France, the UK and the USA thanks to various fellowships. Before coming to Siegen, he was also a substitute and visiting professor at the universities of Hamburg and Frankfurt.
