Odor, Immaterial Sculptures
Artist talk
On this Saturday, November 19, there will be the opportunity to meet three of the artists exhibiting and present in "Odor" personally in the exhibition, while they talk about their work with director Thomas Thiel. The joint tour of the new exhibition with Teresa Margolles, Oswaldo Maciá and Luca Vitone will take place at 2 pm.
In English and German. The ticket is included in the price of admission.
Teresa Margolles takes up in her works aspects of corruption, social injustices as well as gender discrimination and trauma. In particular, she focuses on the atrocities of the Mexican drug war and the violence along the US-Mexican border. Oswaldo Maciá is interested in the (post)colonial history of smell and migration of smells, which is also always accompanied by the loss of knowledge. Thus, he opens other perspectives on global changes and culture-shaping smells. Luca Vitone explores the representation of spaces on the cultural, social, historical and emotional levels. His olfactory sculptures and installations address our collective memory, triggering associations.
