Simon Elson
Cloud Knowledge, Cloud Myths
Repeatedly, clouds have been compared to thoughts, to the process of thinking, for example by the philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer. If we delve into the history of cloud description and illustration over the last 2,000 years, we can see quite clearly that this thinking is not only logical-scientific but also mythical. Where does knowledge end and the myth begin? In the lecture by Simon Elson, these and similar questions will be explored using selected textual and pictorial examples. Simon Elson is an art historian, literary scholar and author.
The lecture will be broadcasted live via Zoom and YouTube and available afterwards via YouTube.
