Looking back
The Rubens Price in 13 exhibition catalogues
Lecture by Christian Spies, professor of Art History at the University of Cologne and curator of the Lambrecht-Schadeberg Collection at MGKSiegen
What remains of historical art exhibitions? Photos, reports and sometimes individual works. Exhibition catalogues, on the other hand, provide a comprehensive insight. They not only provide an overview of the exhibited works, but with the texts and their design also give an insight into the respective time and the larger context. In this way, the 13 exhibition catalogues of past award winners also stand for a very unique history of the Rubens Price since 1958.
The event is part of a series in cooperation with the Art History Department at the University of Siegen and the Art History Institute at the University of Cologne.
