Exhibition Look, the Eyes
Tours and workshops for schoolchildren
I see something you don't see...
...and that is orange. This guessing game makes it clear how individual our perception can be. However, if we combine the different ways of perceiving in a group discussion, there are usually overlaps. In the theoretical part of this workshop, participants learn how perceptions can be verbalized and how both individual and collective observations promote a deeper understanding of the work. An example of this: A picture is described and others try to sketch it based on the description.
The question of what is inside and outside the edge of the picture, or what is missing in the picture, can be exciting. In the practical part, the participants can select a work of art from the exhibition and continue to think and paint creatively.

Big Brother is watching you
This workshop focuses on the tense relationship between seeing and being seen.Gazes play a key role when it comes to creating and questioning emotions, power relations and social constructions - both in art and in everyday life. This dynamic is particularly evident in social media: people look into the camera, similar to the figures in the exhibited works. This creates links between self-portraits and selfies.
In the theoretical part, the participants reflect:What role do gazes play for me? Who sees is seen and what social consequences does this have?
In the practical part, the students experiment with the topic: How does observation influence our behavior? Using drawing, photography or painting, the (power) relationship between artist and model is explored in a practical artistic way. The exercises provide exciting insights into the dynamics of perception and representation.
